While staying in our apartments, we recommend discovering the charm of nearby attractions:

Scalea

Scalea is a city located in northern Calabria, situated right on the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Scalea is a sister city of the Polish town Władysławowo. It’s a resort beloved by Italians and a holiday destination, especially during the summer season. I particularly encourage those who don’t like crowds to come here in spring or autumn. The sea here has a special emerald color and clarity. The beach is clean, very wide, and stretches endlessly. Besides the possibility of active recreation and beach activities, the city offers tourists a beautiful old town in a classic, almost medieval Italian style with narrow, tight streets. Here we can admire the ruins of a Norman castle or the Santa Maria d’Episcopio church located in the historic center of Scalea. However, I especially encourage you to see Scalea’s most famous monument and symbol, the 16th-century coastal defensive tower Torre Talao. Hundreds of such towers were built on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast, and they were meant to warn residents about approaching danger from the sea. Today, climbing the tower guarantees tourists a fascinating and breathtaking view of the surroundings, sea, city, and mountains. Additionally, the tower guide is an exceptionally friendly person with vast knowledge. With the help of a translator, he will communicate with anyone even if you really wouldn’t want to… If you like such atmospheres, this is definitely the place for you.

Diamante

This small town located in northern Calabria is famous for its lemon liqueurs, cider, and spicy pepper called peperoncino. Diamante is the capital of Italian murals. There are about 150 murals in the town, with the first ones created in the 1980s, which is why Diamante is considered one of the largest open-air art museums. The murals were created by internationally renowned artists. You’ll also find an 8-kilometer beach here, but it’s not just the golden sand that makes an exceptional impression on tourists, but the color and shine of the Tyrrhenian Sea water, from which the town’s name supposedly originates. Tourists and town residents love to walk and relax on the promenade stretching along the coast. This is one of my favorite places and I visit it almost every time I’m here. And you must definitely see and visit it, I encourage you to do so.

Orsomarso

Orsomarso is a picturesque town located in the Calabria region of southern Italy. It is situated in the Lao River valley, within the Pollino National Park, which is famous for its pristine nature and spectacular views. The town has a long history dating back to ancient times, and in its vicinity, you can find ruins from Roman times and medieval monuments. Orsomarso is an ideal place for nature lovers and active recreation enthusiasts. In the area, there are hiking and cycling trails leading through mountainous terrain, forests, and along the Lao River, where you can try rafting. The unique charm of Orsomarso also includes narrow, stone streets, traditional houses, and small churches, which give the town a typical Calabrian atmosphere.

Maratea

Maratea is a captivating seaside town in the Basilicata region, known as the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Coast”. The town is dominated by the majestic statue of Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentore), the second largest in the world after the one in Rio de Janeiro. The 22-meter monument, made of white marble, rises atop Monte San Biagio, offering a breathtaking view of the azure sea and picturesque coastline. The town enchants with its Mediterranean architecture – narrow, winding streets, charming squares, and colorful houses climbing up the mountain slopes. Maratea boasts 44 churches and chapels, which testify to the rich history and spiritual heritage of the town. Crystal clear beaches, charming coves, and turquoise sea make it an ideal place for a holiday away from crowded resorts.

San Domenica Talao

It’s a picturesque town in Calabria, known for its charm and beautiful views. It is situated on a hill overlooking the Lao River. One of the most interesting attractions is the historic center with narrow streets, full of medieval buildings and churches. Here you can feel the truly authentic atmosphere of southern Italy. For nature lovers, the Lao River valley offers the opportunity for rafting, which is a great chance to admire wildlife and magnificent landscapes. The town has a viewing terrace that offers breathtaking views of the surroundings. From this point, you can admire the wonderful panorama of the Lao River valley and the surrounding mountains. It’s a perfect place to enjoy the natural beauty of Calabria, take some amazing photos, or maybe even organize a small picnic with a sunset view. This terrace is a favorite spot for both locals and tourists who want to experience the extraordinary atmosphere of this region.

Papasidero

It’s a true gem of Calabria, hidden in the Pollino mountains. This picturesque town has a long history, dating back to ancient times. One of its treasures is the Grotta del Romito, a prehistoric cave with rock drawings that are over 10,000 years old! Walking through the charming streets of Papasidero, you can admire traditional architecture and the castle that dominates the area. For those seeking adventure, the Lao River offers exciting rafting trips, allowing for a close encounter with Calabria’s wild nature. In Papasidero, there is a famous bridge called Ponte del Diavolo, or the Devil’s Bridge. It’s a historic stone bridge that stretches over the Lao River. According to legend, the bridge owes its name to mysterious forces that were said to help in its construction. This bridge is not only a beautiful example of medieval architecture but also an excellent viewpoint, offering breathtaking views of the surroundings.
